Avanzar2030, a USAID funded project, was launched on August 11. The initiative brings together experts from IFPRI, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, Notre Dame University, and over a half dozen other organizations to synthesize evidence on food systems innovations. At the meeting, participants explored the research synthesis process and further developed their strategies for achieving the project goals.
Building on the success of CERES2030, Avanzar2030 will provide much-needed evidence on how to adapt to climate change, provide food during emergencies and for a growing population, generate decent employment opportunities, reduce poverty, produce more with fewer resources, increase food safety, improve diets and food security, and manage an expanding technological revolution. The initiative is also closely linked with HESAT2030, which seeks to increase the quality and quantity of Official Development Assistance (ODA) for agriculture and food security on a global scale.
